CREATIVE ART

Our children are always creative and spontaneous when they express themselves and their ideas through art in a variety of ways. Art activities are a good vehicle for exploration, so our focus is on the process rather than the product. Children can be nurthured in aesthetic appreciation through the exposure of various art forms. Art experiences are versatile and as such, children can develop fine and gross motor skills, eye and hand coordination, and learn concepts such as colour, size, shape, forms and texture.

MATH
Mathematical concepts are introduced in a concrete and meaningful way. As children have the opportunities of hands-on experiences with materials, it lays the foundation for more complex and abstract mathematical work for later learning. The thinking processes of young children are dependent upon skills such as matching, one to one correspondence, counting and seriation.

MUSIC APPRECIATION
Music and accompanying movement activities allow children to use their muscles in finger-plays, dance and they develop creativity as they respond to music. Singing and dancing draw satisfying expressions of emotions and pleasure and these build on their self-esteem as they perform. Children also learn auditory discrimination of different sounds, melody and rhythm.

FUN COOKERY
Cookery is enjoyable for children. They engage in a process that helps them identify with home activities. Through cooking, children learn many skills such as motor coordination, cognition, social and language. Children acquire these skills when they measure, stir, read recipes, engage in conversations and ask questions. Self-concept is also enhanced as they experience sucess and have fun.

DISCOVERY SCIENCE PROGRAMME
Piaget, a child development theorists, believed that children are young scientists. In Cambridge, children learn science through exploring, observing, questioning, experimenting, investigation, predicting and problem-solving. Children learn to understand and clarify cognitive concepts and expand their language. Our programme also sharpens children's perception in discovery. Science explorations challenges and stimulates children's natural curiousity. This satisfies their intrinsic desire to learn about their world.


ENGLISH SPEECH & DRAMA
Children develop the confidence to express their thoughts and feelings through role-plays and theatrical dramatisation. They also acquire the ability to articulate themselves, learn accurate speech patterns, different intonations, and achieve an improved vocabulary.

PHONICS
Children learn letter sounds through a multi-sensory approach, which includes among other techniques, storytelling and games. When children learn to attend to the sound sequences of speech, see and write its physical representation and combine the sounds to produce words and phrases, they are learning to master the complex processes of language.


COMPUTER ASSISTED LEARNING PROGRAMME
At Cambridge we take on the responsibility to ensure that our young children are technologically equipped in the use of computers. Computers are used as a tool for enhancing learning to complement the classroom curriculum. Computers can also bridge the gaps between different subjects like music and math. Children will learn IT skills in a fun and creative way.


CHINESE SPEECH & DRAMA
The focus is to arouse children's interest for Chinese culture and language. It provides children with the basic skills to communicate in Madarin. It helps children to acquire accurate pronounciation and intonation through rhymes, songs, dramasation and conversation.
